Windows 7: Latest News

Windows 7 will be available in two primary editions: Home Premium and Professional. In addition there will be an Ultimate version, but it is not expected to receive as much press as the two primary editions and might only be available as an upgrade through Microsoft.

Current Windows XP Users:

Take a Screen-shot in Windows

Many people don't know how easy it is to create a screen-shot in Windows.

Look for the PrtScn key located on the upper right side of your keyboard (you should see it after the F12 key). Now click the PrtScn key once. That's it, you've just taken a screen-shot of your desktop (no kidding). Internet Explorer Critical Patch

Microsoft has just patched a Critical Vulnerability in Internet Explorer. It is important that users apply the patch immediately. This vulnerability is being actively exploited to download a password stealing Trojan onto PCs as unsuspecting users browse compromised websites with Internet Explorer.

OpenOffice.org: Simply Perfect

Recently my sister-in-law called me with the following problem: her daughter had a Word Document that she needed to work on for homework, but she could not get Microsoft Office to run because the version that came with her Dell PC was asking for a product key and she was having trouble locating it. Windows Security Update KB958644

Microsoft has a released a Critical Security update for Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 (for Windows Vista and Server 2008, it's rated Important). Microsoft is advising Windows users to apply the update immediately.

Update Flash Now!

There is a major security update for Flash Player that you need to install if you haven't done so already. Flash Player is vulnerable to a nasty Clickjacking issue that is affecting all browsers. Adobe is categorizing the vulnerability as critical and advising all users to update promptly.

Outlook Express Account Settings

In Outlook Express, the Account Settings are the settings used to retrieve your email from your ISP or other provider (like Gmail). Backing up these settings and saving them will help you avoid the hassle of having to go through the Internet Connection Wizard to add your emails to Outlook Express.
