Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2

A new version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has just been released! I’ve sung the praises of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in the past and this version lives up to the Malwarebytes reputation. The most noticeable change in this version is the user interface. This version aims to be clean and bright, showing you relevant information right up front in the dashboard. I find the new interface elegant and quite easy to navigate:

There is a major change in the licensing structure of this version; the license will need to be renewed yearly. However, if you have already purchased a Pro version of Malwarebytes you don’t need to worry, the purchased key for version 1.75 of the program will be honored with the new version (if you purchased a lifetime license, it will remain a lifetime license). Being as frugal as I am, this seemed like a great opportunity to purchase the Pro (lifetime) license for all my computers at home and I couldn’t be happier with that decision.

If you don’t already have a version 1 lifetime license, the Pro (lifetime) version can still be purchased through Amazon.com, or from many local retail chains like Walmart. After purchase, download and install the new version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from their website (you do not need to install the version on the CD). Once installed, the license is easily added to the Free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware by clicking the Activate button and typing the key included with your purchase.

If purchased through their website, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium will cost $24.95 for a yearly license, but can be used on 3 PCs.

If you currently can’t afford to pay $24.95, then by all means, at least install and use the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It is an excellent scanner that is light on resources. It’s compatible with all major Anti-virus programs, making it a powerful weapon in the fight against malware. I highly recommend it!

In addition to all the benefits of the free version, the Pro version offers:

  • Malicious Website blocking: Blocks connections to websites known to contain and spread malware.

  • Real time protection: Runs in the background and offers extra protection from malware.

  • Scheduled updates and scans: No need to manually run an update or scan of your computer. It will automatically set itself to update hourly and scan your PC once a day. You can also edit the Scheduled scan so that it will run at the most convenient time for you.

If you currently have Malwarebytes installed and want to install version 2, it is recommended that you uninstall Malwarebytes 1.75 first, then reboot and install the new version.
